Program
Day 1
You’ll set off in the morning on an exciting journey to Jaw Jaw and arrive in the course of the afternoon. Once you’ve arrived, you’re free to spend the rest of the day as you wish. For example, you could relax by the beautiful Jaw Jaw rapids, which are situated close to your accommodation.
Day 2
After breakfast, you’ll explore the rainforest on a walk through the woods and then discover daily life in a village. Here, you’ll immerse yourself in the culture of the Saramaccans, who keep centuries-old African traditions such as fishing, hunting, boat-building and traditional medicine alive in the lush Surinamese jungle. After lunch, you’ll visit the remote village of Gunsi, where you’ll round off the evening with an enchanting cultural show.
Day 3
Enjoy the surroundings for a while before returning to Paramaribo.

Transport starts by land, traveling by bus over partly unpaved roads to Atjoni (approximately 3 hours). There you transfer to a canoe, a motorized dugout canoe, which takes you to Jaw Jaw in about 1 hour, and vice versa.

Accommodation
Stay at the Djamaika tourist camp on the outskirts of the village of Jaw Jaw, where you can enjoy traditional cottages with beds fitted with mosquito nets and shared showers and toilets outside the cottages for an authentic experience.
