Activities

At 'A Tela' in Jaw Jaw, unforgettable experiences take centre stage. You’ll discover the rich culture through interactive sessions on customs, history and rituals, and enjoy delicious meals made with fresh ingredients from the garden. During a fascinating walk through the village, you’ll discover schools, medical centres and other points of interest. You can cool off in the rapids, go fishing or take part in various sporting activities with the local youngsters. You’ll also meet the friendly locals, help prepare traditional dishes, work the land and learn the art of Saamaka Alisi. You’ll round off the day with evening walks in the enchanting forest and take part in local evening activities.

Program

Day 1
For three days, you’ll be immersed in local life in Jaw Jaw, where you’ll take part in centuries-old traditions and a variety of village activities. You’ll explore the beautiful forest, spot caimans and go on boat trips through impressive rapids that will stay with you for a long time. This trip is all about the rich heritage of escaped slaves, set against an enchanting backdrop. The daily programme is flexible and tailored to events in the village. You can take part in activities such as harvesting, communal cooking, computer lessons and helping children with their homework, fishing for dinner, baking your own bread and other local pursuits. There are also opportunities for excursions to neighbouring villages and spectacular rapids.
