Program
Day 1
You will set off from Paramaribo and travel for around 4 hours to the jetty at Longmay, Nickerie. You can park your vehicle free of charge on the grounds of Akira’s jetty, though this is at your own risk. There is a toilet available at the jetty. The boat departs at 1.30 pm and reaches the slipway on the Nickerie River after about 10 minutes, where you will disembark and your luggage will be transferred to another boat. You will then sail through the 8 km-long Jamaer Canal, a beautiful route where you can spot birds. This journey takes about 45 minutes. By 3.00 pm, you’ll arrive at Akira Over Water Resort, where a late lunch will be waiting for you. After lunch, you can check in and relax for a while. At around 5.00 pm, an excursion is on the programme during which you’ll watch birds flying to their roosts and enjoy the sunset over the water. Dinner will be served between 7.00 pm and 7.30 pm.
Day 2
The following morning, you can set out early to watch the birds take flight from their roosts whilst you wait for the sun to rise. After breakfast at 8.00 am, you are free to enjoy a range of activities. You can go canoeing or stand-up paddleboarding for free, take a boat trip to the wetlands, or have a mud bath when water levels permit. If you’d rather relax, you can retreat to the Bird Tower or the lobby and enjoy the views of the surrounding area.

Akira has a spacious restaurant where fresh meals are prepared daily. Your dietary restrictions (gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.) are taken into account when preparing the meals.
Accommodation
The spacious 50m² lodges feature a large balcony with stunning views over the lake, where you can enjoy spectacular sunsets and sunrises. Each lodge is equipped to accommodate 3 people and has its own bathroom and toilet. The lodges have a 24-hour electricity supply, generated by solar panels, with a voltage of 110 volts.
