You will set off early in the morning with your guide, Leon, for the Surinamese jungle. This journey takes you back to the time and way of life of the enslaved people and their survival strategies in the unspoilt rainforest. On the way, you’ll drive past the old Suralco bauxite factory, an indigenous village and savannah. After about an hour and a half, you’ll park the car and walk for about half an hour into the forest in search of a stream. Once you’ve reached a suitable spot by the stream, you’ll rest and recharge your energy with a tasty meal. Then the real adventure begins: together, you’ll build your own camp using a hatchet and materials from the forest. At the same time, you’ll gather wood for cooking. In the late afternoon, you’ll go in search of ingredients for dinner, and in the evening you’ll explore the forest some more in search of wildlife.
