Day 1
You’ll depart from the local Zorg & Hoop Airport in Paramaribo for Kabalebo, about an hour’s flight westwards. The airport is right next to the resort, where you’ll be welcomed by the management and checked in. After a guided tour, you’ll enjoy lunch. You will then get ready for a one-and-a-half-hour forest walk, with a choice of different routes: a walk to the BWKW rapids, a route from the foot of Misty Mountain to Zandkreek, or the Beechcraft Trail. These forest walks are combined with a boat trip in a korjaal, during which you’ll drift with the current whilst taking in the natural surroundings, birds and sounds of the forest. After this afternoon spent immersed in nature, dinner is served, featuring one of the delicious Surinamese dishes prepared for you by the chef. After dinner, the programme for the following day is discussed, after which you can chat on the spacious veranda, enjoy the view or relax in your hammock.
Day 2
After breakfast, you’ll set off on a mountain hike of around 5 hours through the jungle to the 500-metre-high Misty Mountain. Along the way, your guide will share fascinating facts about the local flora and fauna. With a bit of luck, you may hear or spot howler monkeys, blue-and-yellow macaws, the Screaming Piha, frogs and butterflies. From the summit, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view of the unspoilt tropical rainforest, the resort and the mysterious mountains in the south of Suriname. On the way back, you’ll visit the Charlie Waterfalls, where you can relax and enjoy your lunch. After your return, you can cool off by the pool or in a hammock whilst taking in the scenery. After dinner, the tour leaders will provide you with information about the following day’s activities.
Day 3
After breakfast, you’ll take a dugout canoe to the Moi Moi waterfall, where you’ll go on an educational forest walk accompanied by our experienced guide. During this walk, you’ll learn about the fascinating features of the tropical rainforest and enjoy the natural beauty of the waterfall. After the walk, you can take a moment to relax by the Moi Moi before having lunch there. In the afternoon, you’ll return to the Main Lodge, where you’re free to spend the rest of the day by the pool, on the terrace or however you like. In the evening, a delicious Surinamese dinner awaits you, after which the tour leaders will brief you on the next day’s activities.
Day 4
After breakfast, you’ll set off quietly in a dugout canoe to Kilo 3. You’ll paddle up the Kilo 3 creek for a lovely walk through the jungle to the Kilo 3 rapids. Here, you’ll have lunch and relax by the creek. In the afternoon, you’ll return to the Main Lodge, where you can relax in a hammock, enjoy the pool or unwind on the jetty by the river. In the evening, a delicious Surinamese dinner awaits you. Afterwards, the guides will provide you with information about the next day’s activities.
Day 5
After breakfast, you’ll set off on a two-and-a-half-hour walk to the bivouac camp, where you can relax for a while before continuing on to Zandkreek. This boat trip, lasting about an hour and 45 minutes, takes you through an area with vegetation that’s completely different from what you’ve seen so far. On the way, you’ll enjoy lunch by a beautiful set of rapids, where you can take a dip in the water. In the afternoon, you’ll drift back to the Main Lodge, where you can cool off by the pool or in a hammock whilst taking in the scenery. In the evening, a delicious Surinamese dinner awaits you, after which the tour leaders will provide information about the next day’s activities.
Day 6
After breakfast, you’ll set off in a dugout canoe to the Was Wasie rapids for a boat trip lasting around 2.5 hours. Along the way, you’ll be able to take full enjoyment of the surrounding countryside and spot various animals. On arrival, you can take a dip in the water before having lunch there. In the afternoon, you’ll sail back to the Main Lodge, giving you another chance to spot wildlife. After your return, you can cool off by the swimming pool or relax in a hammock whilst taking in the scenery around you. In the evening, you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner in a cosy atmosphere. Afterwards, the guides will provide you with information about the next day’s activities.
Day 7
You’ll start the final day of your stay with breakfast, after which a special activity is on the programme: kayaking. You’ll be taken upstream to Krong Soela by dugout canoe, where you’ll transfer to a kayak. From there, you’ll paddle downstream back to the Main Lodge, whilst enjoying the sounds, scents and natural beauty of the surroundings along the way. After lunch, we’ll bid you a fitting farewell and you’ll fly back to Paramaribo.
