Overview
Ontdek de fascinerende geschiedenis van Commewijne per boot langs authentieke plantages en historische vestingwerken. Verken de voormalige suiker-, cacao- en koffieplantages, bewonder fort Nieuw Amsterdam en vaar door de karakteristieke kanalen en sluizen die het landschap bepalen. Het hoogtepunt is plantage Frederiksdorp, waar gerestaureerde arbeiderswoningen nu als accommodaties dienen en de voormalige gevangenis is omgebouwd tot restaurant. Program
Day 1
Explore the historic Commewijne district during our Plantation Tour, which starts at 9:00 AM from Leonsbergsteiger. First we visit the 17th century Fort Nieuw Amsterdam, an open-air museum with a rich history. We then sail to the Rust en Werk plantation, where we explore the beautiful creek depending on the tide. Then we go to the restored Frederiksdorp plantation for a tour. During lunch with a local plantation resident in Johanna-Margaretha you will enjoy the local hospitality. The return journey starts at 3:00 PM and offers the chance to spot dolphins at the confluence of the Commewijne and Suriname Rivers.
