The journey begins at 07.30 from Paramaribo to Albina, a three-hour drive. From Albina, you’ll travel by dugout canoe to St. Laurent du Maroni in French Guiana, where you’ll visit the famous Papillon Museum. This historic complex, which served as a prison from 1852 onwards, is now a fascinating museum that you’ll explore on a guided tour. Afterwards, you’ll stroll past local shops and the market, where various communities sell their wares. You’ll then enjoy a tasty lunch and, if you’re an architecture enthusiast, admire the characteristic old buildings. You’ll then return by boat to Albina and travel by bus to Paramaribo.
