Program

Day 1
You’ll set off at 7.00 am by bus to Witagron, an authentic Maroon village. Upon arrival, you’ll have lunch before boarding the boats for the trip to the Raleigh Falls. Once there, you’ll meet the manager and be shown to your accommodation. In the afternoon, you’ll go on an exploratory tour around the island and, if you wish, you can take a dip in the river.
Day 2
After breakfast, you’ll set off on an active hike to the Voltzberg – a truly fascinating and impressive trek. Along the way, you may spot various animals, such as monkeys, birds and wild boar. The highlight of the day is undoubtedly the climb to the summit at an altitude of 240 metres, where you can enjoy a magnificent view over the tropical rainforest. In the afternoon, you’ll return to the lodge, stopping off for a refreshing break at the Anjoemara Waterfalls on the way. After dinner, you’ll round off the day in a relaxed atmosphere.
Day 3
After breakfast, we’ll set off by boat to Lolopasi, from where you’ll go on an educational forest walk to the impressive Mother Falls. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the airfield, where you can spot a variety of birds. After dinner, we’ll spend some time together in a relaxed atmosphere, and, if you’d like, you can enjoy a cultural show featuring singing and dancing by the local Raleighboys.
Day 4
At around 9.00 am, we’ll set off by boat for Witagron and drive on from there to Blanche Marie. During the trip, you’ll have the chance to spot various animals and bird species. Upon arrival, you’ll explore the area around Blanche Marie, where you can go for a swim before enjoying your evening meal.
Day 5
After breakfast, you’ll walk to the stunning Blanche Marie waterfall. Along the way, you’ll discover fascinating facts about the area’s rich biodiversity as you make your way past the river’s fast-flowing rapids. You’ll have the chance to stand or sit beneath the waterfalls and let the powerful water cascade over you. A truly unique experience that you won’t forget in a hurry.
Day 6
After breakfast, we set off for Apoera for a sightseeing tour of the town. In the afternoon, you will visit the famous "nowhere to nowhere" railway line. We will then travel to the indigenous villages of Kwamalasemoetoe and Washabo, where you will take part in a village walk. During this walk, you’ll learn about the culture of the Trio and Arawak peoples, two distinct indigenous tribes, and have the opportunity to buy souvenirs. After dinner, the day will conclude with a cosy get-together.
Day 7
After breakfast, you’ll travel by boat to Nieuw Nickerie. Once you arrive, you’ll check into your hotel and then explore this predominantly Hindustani town, which has a population of around 8,000. In the early evening, you’ll enjoy a beautiful sunset at the Zeedijk, just outside the town.
Day 8
Today you will visit the Bigi Pan Nature Reserve, Suriname’s largest lagoon. You will travel by dugout canoe through the creeks, mangrove forests and marshlands of this bird-watching paradise, which is home to more than 120 species of birds. After a day filled with birdwatching, you’ll spend the night at the Akira Resort on Bigi Pan. On the final day, after breakfast, you’ll set off by boat for Nickerie and from there return to Paramaribo.
