Overview
Galibi, een 4000-hectare natuurreservaat aan de Atlantische Oceaan bij de monding van de Marowijnerivier in Suriname, is wereldberoemd om zijn legendarische zeeschildpadden die 's nachts bij hoogwater hun eieren leggen. Dit unieke gebied combineert ongerepte zeestranden met authentieke Caraïbische Indiaanse dorpen, waar traditionele vissersboten langs het kustdorp dobberen. Ontdek de rijke cultuur van Galibi met zijn traditionele piaka-korjalen, ambachtelijk vlechtwerk en eeuwenoude vistechnieken. De driedaagse tour voert je ook naar Frans-Guyana, waar je de fascinerende geschiedenis van de voormalige strafgevangenis Saint Laurent du Maroni verkent.

Activities
Enjoy the vast village along the beach with coconut palms, mango trees and traditional piaka canoes. This reserve is home to the world's second largest laying beach for three species of sea turtles: the Krape (green turtle), Aitkanti (leatherback turtle) and Warana (pygmy turtle). At night they come ashore to lay their eggs, depending on the tides. The tour also includes a visit to Saint Laurent du Maroni's historic penitentiary, with options for French-language tours.

Program
Day 1
Op dag 1 vertrekt u met een busje vanuit Paramaribo richting het oosten van Suriname. Bij het grensplaatsje Albina steekt u per korjaal over de Marowijnerivier, richting het strand van Galibi.Het Galibi strand biedt u vele ontspanningsmogelijkheden, waar u gebruik van kunt maken na aankomst. Zo is er de mogelijkheid om lekker te zwemmen, of rustig bij te komen in de hangmat.Om 20.00 uur reist u onder begeleiding van uw gids naar de legplaats van de schildpadden. De zeeschildpadden komen na zonsondergang hier een nest te maken en hun eieren te werpen. Dit hele proces kunt u van dichtbij meemaken (uiteraard storen we de dieren niet).
Day 2
Dag 2 staat in het teken van de omgeving.Op het programma staat een rondleiding door het indianendorp waar u verblijft, een bezoek aan het schooltje en u heeft nog gelegenheid om te zwemmen of een souvenirtje te kopen terwijl de lunch voor onderweg bereid wordt.
Day 3
Op de heen of terugweg (sowieso op de woensdag en zaterdagen ivm de markt) maken we de stop in Saint Laurent du Maroni om Frans-Guyana te bezoeken.Hier bezoeken we de gevangenis (bekend ook van le Papillion) en maken een kleine dorpswandeling.Op woensdag en zaterdag bezoeken we de markt.Verder krijgt u gelegenheid wat Franse producten te kopen in een supermarkt (hier wordt enkel euro geaccepteerd)..
