Program
Day 1
Your Palumeu adventure in Suriname starts with a scenic flight from Zorg en Hoop, the local airport, to the enchanting airstrip at the Palumeu Indian village. Upon arrival you will be warmly welcomed at the Palumeu resort, surrounded by the Trio and Wajana communities. A relaxing picnic lunch on beautiful Palawa Island is followed by a refreshing river swim. Later in the day, our guide will take you on a fascinating exploration of the Indian village, where you will discover the lively traditions and crafts of these ancient Amazonians. Enjoy our resort's eco-friendly approach, with traditionally built jungle lodges and sustainable energy sources that immerse you in comfort and authenticity. An evening full of stories about the lush flora and fauna and ancient indigenous cultures ends the day.
Day 2
Wake up at the Palumeu resort to the roar of howler monkeys as a natural alarm clock. After a delicious breakfast, a canoe will take you to the starting point for an adventurous walk to the granite hill, Potihill. The day promises a trip by canoe on the Tapanahony River, followed by an informative trek with our expert guide who will let you discover the diverse flora and fauna. The ascent of Potihill is rewarded with breathtaking views of the jungle. After lunch there will be an archery lesson and an evening filled with stories about the history and unique lifestyles of the local Indians.
Day 3
The third day starts early, dawn brings a serene boat ride downstream to experience the jungle's awakening in silence. After breakfast you will sail by canoe to the Mabuka Falls for a day of relaxation. Swim in the river, get a massage from the waterfall or relax in a hammock. For adventurers, the tour offers a jungle walk with explanations about trees, plants and animals. A tasty barbecue for lunch and a night river trip with our guide to enjoy the sounds of the jungle conclude the day.
Day 4
Your last morning at the Palumeu resort begins with an extensive village walk, where you will have the chance to purchase traditional handmade souvenirs. After lunch it is time to say goodbye to this enchanting environment and return to Paramaribo, where your unforgettable experience in Palumeu comes to an end.
