Program

Day 1
The journey begins with a flight from the local Zorg en Hoop airport to the airstrip near the Palumeu indigenous village. There, you’ll receive a warm welcome from our local staff, who will accompany you to your accommodation in the heart of the Trio and Wajana indigenous peoples’ territory. After checking in, you can relax with a picnic lunch on the nearby island of Palawa, followed by a refreshing dip in the calm river.
Day 2
The bond between travellers grows as everyone works together to load the dugout canoe. Your adventure then begins with a journey along the Tapanahony and Palumeu rivers to the Kamakabari camp. Here you’ll experience the simplicity of the jungle, far removed from luxuries and without mobile phones or radio contact, immersed in the life of a true explorer.
Day 3
You will break camp early in the morning and travel by dugout canoe to the Kasikasima base camp. Along the way, you will navigate through rapids where low water levels require everyone’s full attention. On arrival, you’ll set off on a trek to the Kasikasima Mountains, where, surrounded by the sounds and signs of the jungle, you’ll discover the legend of this remarkable mountain range.
Day 4
You’ll embark on an intense jungle trek to the foot of the Kasikasimage Mountains, where your guide will reveal their mythical significance. Along the way, you’ll go in search of the rare rock partridges found in this region. The climb to the summit rewards you with a panoramic view of the Amazon rainforest – a truly transcendent experience. On the descent, a refreshing massage in the rapids awaits you, after which you’ll round off the day with fascinating stories around the campfire.
Day 5
You’ll start the day with a walk to the Kodebaku waterfalls in the morning light, whilst learning more about the rainforest’s fascinating flora and fauna. After visiting the impressive waterfalls and a nearby indigenous village, you’ll return to base camp for a free afternoon to explore at your leisure. The day ends with a night-time boat trip, during which you’ll listen to the unique sounds of the jungle.
Day 6
In the early morning, whilst the jungle is still shrouded in twilight, you’ll glide gently along the river by boat. This is a moment to wake up quietly and take in the first sounds of the Amazon. The rest of the day is entirely up to you: you can go for a walk, swim in the river, or simply lose yourself in the unspoilt beauty of this unique nature reserve.
Day 7
The return journey to Palumeu offers you further opportunities to experience the splendour of the jungle. Along the way, you may spot howler monkeys, caimans or even a giant otter. Back in Palumeu, a well-deserved drink awaits you, after which you’ll say goodbye to the cook and the boatmen.
Day 8
After a morning tour of the village, where you can buy traditional souvenirs, you’ll fly back to Paramaribo. And so your journey, filled with unforgettable adventures and meaningful encounters, comes to an end.
