Tijdens onze driedaagse expeditie langs de Maratakka rivier krijgen we uitstekende kansen om zeekoeien en reuzenotters waar te nemen. De talrijke Mauritius palmen langs de oevers bieden ideale habitat voor de kleurrijke blauw gele ara. Ons kamp ligt strategisch dicht bij de samenvloeiing van de Maratakka en Nickerie rivier, een perfecte locatie om de indrukwekkende reuzetoekan te spotten. Deze unieke waterweg biedt een onvergetelijke natuurbeleving in het hart van het Amazonegebied.

Program

Day 1

Rond 8 uur in de ochtend zullen we vanuit Paramaribo vertrekken richting Wageningen in het Nickerie district. We maken gebruik van een taxi die standaard wordt gebruikt tijdens deze trip. Mocht het gewenst zijn dan kunnen we altijd stoppen bij bepaalde locaties. Zo is er bijvoorbeeld een mooi uitkijkpunt en ook een plek om de scarlet ibis te kunnen spotten! Rond lunchtijd zullen we aankomen in het dorp Wageningen. Hier zal onze gids op ons staan te wachten. Hijis een echte local en kent het hele gebied uit zijn duimpje! We zullen eerst een lekkere lunch eten en dan is er daarna ruimte om een stuk te gaan varen! We zullen terugkomen voor het avondeten en de avond is naar wens in te vullen. We kunnen een avondwandeling maken, weer een stuk varen of misschien gewoon genieten van een kampvuur.

Day 2

We can cruise on both the Maratakka River aIs the Nickerie River. We can, for example, cruise early in the morning when the jungle is just waking up (this gives us the best chance of seeing the giant toucan!), or just at the end of the day to see the last birds in the sunlight and the nocturnal animals waking up. During the cruises, we will look for manatees, giant otters and there is even a chance of seeing the giant toucan on the Nickerie River. There is also a hunter's trail nearby. We can explore this path in the evening and look for nocturnal animals such as frogs and snakes.

Day 3

On the last day, we will leave for the city after lunch. Here we will arrive approximately between 17:00 and 18:00.
