Program
Day 1
You’ll set off from your accommodation at around 8.30 am for a scenic bus journey of approximately 2½ hours to Jungle Resort Pingpe. On the way, you’ll admire the colourful Surinamese culture and picturesque villages. On arrival in Atjoni, you’ll enjoy lunch, after which you’ll board a korjaal for an enchanting 3½-hour trip along the Upper Suriname River. During this journey, you’ll see local villages and observe the daily activities of the residents. Upon arrival at the resort, you can relax on the island or go for a swim in the river. Later, there will be a walk through the village and an evening trip by korjaal, during which you can experience the sounds of the jungle and possibly spot caimans. The day ends with a delicious dinner, during which you’ll learn more about Saramaccan culture and the Pingpe area.
Day 2
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll explore the jungle with your guide and discover the natural beauty and customs of the rainforest. After lunch, you’ll sail to Tapawatra Sula for some refreshing dives and a natural massage bath. Back at the resort, you’ll visit the Djumu Health Centre, before rounding off the day with an evening of culture and dance, organised by the local community.
Day 3
After breakfast, you’ll set off downstream to Atjoni by dugout canoe. Following a 2.5-hour boat trip, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch, after which you’ll return to Paramaribo by coach.
