Day 1
At 7:00 am we leave by bus for Witagron, a Maroon village. Upon arrival at Witagron, we will have lunch, after which the boats will be loaded for the boat trip to the Raleigh Falls. Upon arrival you will meet the manager and the accommodation will be arranged. In the afternoon there will be an exploration tour around the island. If desired, we can take a dip in the river.
Day 2
After breakfast we get ready for an active hike to the Voltzberg. This tour is very fascinating and impressive. You can encounter many animals, such as monkeys, birds, wild boars, etc. The highlight of this day is of course the climb to the top (240 m) where you can enjoy a beautiful view over the tropical rainforest. In the afternoon we return to the lodge en route we make a stop at the Anjoemara falls to cool off. Having fun together after dinner.
Day 3
After breakfast we leave by boat to Lolopasi, from where we take an educational forest walk to the breathtaking Mother Falls. In the afternoon we visit the airport and you can also spot various birds. After dinner, have a nice time together, and on request you can also enjoy a cultural show with singing and dancing by the local Raleigh boys.
Day 4
Around 9:00 am we leave by boat for Witagron and from there we drive to Blanche Marie. During the tour there is a chance that you will see different animals and bird species. After arriving at Blanche Marie, the area will be explored, you can go for a swim and then have an evening meal.
Day 5
After breakfast we take a walk to Blanche Marie waterfall. Along the way you will hear fun and interesting facts about the biodiversity in this area as we pass rapid rapids of the river. Where possible, you can stand or sit under the waterfalls and let the powerful water rush down over you. A unique experience!
Day 6
After breakfast we leave for Apoera, where we do a sightseeing in Apoera town. In the afternoon you will visit the railway line from “somewhere to nowhere”. We then continue our way to the Indian villages, small Kwamalasemoetoe and Washabo, for a village walk. During the village walk you will become acquainted with the culture of the Trios and Arawaks, two different Indian tribes. You can buy souvenirs there. A pleasant get-together in the evening after dinner.
Day 7
After breakfast we go by boat to Nieuw Nickerie. Upon arrival in Nieuw-Nickerie, we first settle in the hotel and then take a walk through the predominantly Hindu town with approximately 8,000 inhabitants. At the beginning of the evening we will enjoy the sunset at the Zeedijk, just outside the city.
Day 8
Today is all about the visit to the largest lagoon in Suriname, the Bigi Pan Nature Reserve. Sailing by canoe through the creeks, mangrove forests and swamp areas, you will get to know this breeding paradise for more than 120 bird species. Overnight stay on Bigi Pan at the Akira Resort. On the last day (day 9), after breakfast you will leave by boat for Nickerie and from there to Paramaribo.
