PART 1

Day 1: Arrival in Paramaribo
We depart from Schiphol to Suriname and land at JAPengel airport in the afternoon, where our team is waiting for you. We then drive about 80 minutes to the Residence Hotel in Paramaribo.

Day 2: City Tour and History of Water and Land
To get used to the atmosphere, we start with a city tour of Paramaribo, visiting highlights such as Fort Zeelandia, the wooden Basilica, the Jewish Synagogue next to the Mosque, Independence Square, the wreck of the German ship 'the Goslar', and the market with visiting her exotic fruits and vegetables. Then we take a primitive tent boat across the Suriname and Commewijne rivers. We visit Rust en Werk plantation, Margaretha plantation and the open-air museum. We can spot dolphins at the place where the Suriname and Commewijne rivers meet. Breakfast and lunch are included.

Day 3: Nickerie
We leave Paramaribo for Nieuw-Nickerie in the North-West of Suriname around 8:00 am. Along the way we visit some historical places in the districts of Saramacca and Coronie. We arrive at the jetty of Akira Overwater Resort around 1:30 PM. We make a short stop in the town of Groningen, where we learn more about its history. Once in Nickerie we board the boat to Bigi Pan, where we stay for 2 nights at the Akira Overwater Resort. In the evening we go bird watching and caimans. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

Day 4: Bigi Pan
The morning starts early with a coffee or tea moment on your balcony at 5:30 am. Around 6:00 am you can see the birds leaving their roost, a special moment to spot the colored Ibises and Egrets! After breakfast you are free to do activities such as kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming or just relax. Later in the day we take a birding trip to watch the birds fly back to their roost. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

PART 2

Day 5: Bigi Pan to Paramaribo
After two nights we leave the Bigi Pan nature reserve after breakfast. We sail back to Nickerie for a city tour, visiting the market and the sea wall. After lunch we leave for Paramaribo and along the way we stop at places such as Wageningen and Coronie. We return to Paramaribo around 6 p.m. with a wealth of experiences. Breakfast and lunch are included.

Day 6: Raleigh Falls
After breakfast we leave for the Raleigh Falls, a nature reserve in the middle of the Surinamese jungle, the heart of the Amazon. This is a great experience for nature lovers. We explore the area, sail on the river and enjoy the pristine forest. Here you will find an abundance of diverse nature. This area is home to all 8 monkey species that occur in Suriname and approximately 400 bird species. Climbing the Voltzberg offers a breathtaking view of the impenetrable forest. From the hotel we leave with a minibus towards Witagron and step into the waiting canoes to go to Fungu island via the Coppename river. We spend the night in lodges at Raleigh Falls. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

Day 7: Raleigh Falls to Mother Falls
In the morning we take a trip to the Mother Falls, a beautiful walk through nature, followed by a refreshing dip in the cooler waters of the Coppename river. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

PART 3

Day 8: Raleigh Falls - Voltzberg
Today the ultimate challenge is on the program: the climb to the top of the Voltzberg. The tough climb and the jungle tour take about three hours (a good level of fitness is required). The panoramic views of the jungle from this granite sugarloaf-shaped mountain are unparalleled. For those who do not make the long jungle tour, there is an impressive alternative jungle tour where you come face to face with monkeys and see various rare bird species. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

Day 9: Raleigh Falls to Paramaribo
After breakfast we take a beautiful but long boat trip in canoes along rapids and sandbanks to Witagron, where we have lunch. We then continue to our stay in Paramaribo. Breakfast and lunch are included.

Day 10: Palumeu
From Zorg en Hoop airport we fly to the airstrip near the Indian village of Palumeu in about 75 minutes. Upon arrival we are welcomed by the local staff. A special experience awaits us far in the south of Suriname. Jungle Lodge Palumeu, located in the residential area of the Trio and Wajana Indians, more than an hour's flight from Paramaribo. Here we meet the original inhabitants of the Amazon rainforest and their harmonious way of life with nature. The comfortable jungle lodges offer beautiful views of the river. Fascinating boat trips and walks through the unique Amazon rainforest complete this experience. After dinner, the program for the next day is discussed and we gain more insight into the residents of the village. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

PART 4

Day 11: Palumeu
Today you start exploring the tropical rainforest. Early in the morning you sail on the river to silently experience the awakening nature. Breakfast may take place in peace and quiet on the boat or at a beautiful spot along the river. Then you go to the start of the forest path to Pothill, a granite hill that you can walk to at the end of the path. Along the way and during the canoe trip on the Tapanahony River you may see different bird species, such as macaws, parrots and toucans. You might even spot monkeys or an otter. From the top of the Pothill you can enjoy a beautiful view over the jungle. Lunch is back in Palumeu. After lunch you will explore a forest trail in search of birds, possibly including caimans, and visit the forest lands where the Indians grow their crops. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

Day 12: Mabuka Falls
After breakfast you will go by canoe to the Mabuka Falls for a forest walk with information about local flora and fauna. The surroundings provide an unforgettable barbecue lunch. At sunset, your guide will take you for a river ride to enjoy the nighttime sounds of the jungle. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

Day 13: Palumeu
In the morning the guide will take you on a jungle tour.
You will learn more about the flora and fauna of the tropical rainforest. In the afternoon you can swim or enjoy the peace and tranquility of the tropical rainforest from a hammock

Day 14: Palumeu to Paramaribo
In the morning you will take an extensive village walk where you can buy traditional handmade crafts. After lunch you will leave for Zorg en Hoop airport in Paramaribo, where a van will take you back to your hotel. Here you still have time to explore the city. Breakfast and lunch are included.

Day 15: free day in Paramaribo

Day 16: Departure to Schiphol, Netherlands
Enjoy a few more hours of Paramaribo, maybe buy some souvenirs or relax on the waterfront, before it's time to leave. After noon the bus will take you to the airport for the overnight flight to the Netherlands. Breakfast is included.

Day 17: Arrival at Schiphol
Welcome back to Schiphol, your home base!
