A nature park, just a few hours' drive from Paramaribo, reveals the opulence of the Surinamese rainforest. The Brownsberg tour, a day adventure in a 12,000 hectare nature park, brings you into contact with diverse flora and fauna. While monkeys roar, explore enchanting waterfalls and admire the majestic views of the tropical rainforest and the Brokopondo reservoir. Once on the 500 meter high Mazaroni plateau, the panoramic view of the mountain range offers a picturesque splendor with a lush green color palette.

Activities
During this tour you can enjoy walks to various waterfalls via jungle trails, spotting animals and educational insights about the environment and biodiversity. A refreshing shower under the waterfalls is possible. The most popular spots on the Brownsberg are the Leoval and Ireneval, in addition to the breathtaking views from the Mazaroni plateau over the tropical rainforest and reservoir. A challenging hike to the Mazaronieval is also on the program.

Program
Day 1
We cover about 130 km in about 2 hours by mini-bus, partly on asphalted and partly unpaved bauxite roads. In the morning we leave Paramaribo towards Brownsberg via the Afobakkaweg, enjoying the vegetation and the picturesque savannah landscape passing authentic villages along the way. Upon arrival at the nature park, we take a walk to the Leo and Irene Falls for a refreshing shower under the natural spring water. The sounds of nature will lull you to sleep. Our guide will accompany you from Paramaribo to this jungle area at an altitude of 500 meters south of the city. Brownsberg Nature Park covers 12,000 hectares with a wide range of biodiversity and is an ideal destination all year round.
