PART 1
Day 1: Paramaribo
Departure from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport for the flight to Paramaribo. On arrival, your guide will be waiting to escort you to the Residence Inn Hotel, where your first four nights’ accommodation has been booked.Day 2: Bakkie Plantation and Museum
During this tour, you’ll gain an insight into the history of the Bakkie plantation. You’ll see old sugar mills in the jungle, wells and sluices, and visit a small, surprising museum. Breakfast and lunch are included.Day 3: Free day
You are free to spend this day as you wish. Options include relaxing on a terrace, doing some shopping, or visiting the Cottami Mission Museum or Ford Zeelandia. Breakfast is included.Day 4: Paramaribo – Drietabbetje – Kamp Soentje
Departure by bus at 10.00 am to Zorg en Hoop Airport. We’ll arrive in Drietabbetje in about 50 minutes on the Gumair scheduled service. Upon arrival, we’ll take a stroll through the village and then travel by boat for about 3 hours towards Kamp Soentje. If water levels are low, part of the route may be covered on foot whilst the boat is moved. On arrival on the island, the hammocks will be set up for the night. All meals are included.Day 5: Kamp Soentje – Apetina
After breakfast, we set off for Apetina, a journey of about 5 hours, with a stop for lunch and a refreshing dip in the river. Depending on the water level, the boat may be pulled or sailed. On arrival in Apetina, we set up our hammocks for the night. Dinner is served around 7.00 pm. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.)
PART 2
Day 6: Climbing Tebu Peak
After an early breakfast, we’ll take a boat trip (about 45 minutes) to the footpath leading to Tebu Peak. From there, we’ll walk for half an hour to the foot of the mountain. The local guide leads the climb to the summit, ensuring a safe experience. After returning, it’s time for lunch. In the afternoon, we take a walk through the village led by a local guide. Dinner is at around 7.00 pm. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.)Day 7: Tutuk Creek – Roosevelt Mountains
After breakfast, we’ll take a boat trip of about 2 hours to Tutuk Creek. Upon arrival, we’ll set up camp and spend the night in hammocks. It’s a beautiful spot for swimming and fishing. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.Day 8: Roosevelt Mountains
After breakfast, we’ll take a 15-minute boat trip to the footpath leading up the Roosevelt Mountains. We’ll go on a walk of about 3 to 4 hours there and back with a local guide. From the summit, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view of the Amazon rainforest. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.Day 9: Roosevelt Mountains – Apetina
After breakfast, we’ll set off by boat for the village of Apetina. The afternoon is free to swim and enjoy the surroundings. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.Day 10: Apetina – Paramaribo
After breakfast, we’ll set off by boat to the airstrip. There, we’ll wait for the plane to fly us to Paramaribo (Zorg en Hoop Airport) in about an hour. A coach will then take you to the hotel. Breakfast is included today.Day 11: Free day
Today you have a free day to spend as you wish. Enjoying a drink on a terrace, doing some shopping in the city or relaxing by the pool are just a few options. Breakfast is included.
PART 3
Day 12: Fredberg Adventure
Fredberg is a destination for adventurers, nature lovers and those who wish to experience Suriname’s unspoilt beauty. We’ll take you to a rediscovered spot where you’ll experience the true splendour of Suriname. After a brief briefing and a cup of coffee or tea, we’ll set off for the unspoilt jungle. The journey takes around 4 hours on a reasonably good road, depending on any stops along the way. At base camp, you’ll have time to swim and eat. You’ll then change into your jungle gear for the climb up Fredberg. The 3- to 4-hour walk through the unspoilt jungle is manageable for anyone in reasonable physical condition. Once at the summit, you’ll enjoy the stunning views. Facilities such as a shower and kitchen are available to ensure a good night’s sleep. Enjoy the sunset and the starry sky before you settle down to sleep in this special place. All meals are included.Day 13: Fredberg
Get up early for a breathtaking sunrise over the jungle. From the summit, you’ll see the jungle come to life and hear the calls of howler monkeys and colourful birds flying past. After a hearty breakfast, continue your exploration of the jungle. Your guide will take you to the other side of the mountain, where you may spot rare orange-cheeked partridges and various species of monkey. Back at base camp, enjoy a sumptuous lunch and some relaxation. Spend the night in a comfortable bed without needing the hammock. Activities such as fishing, boating and even a Tarzan swing at high tide are on the programme. In the evening, you’ll head out again with a guide to spot nocturnal animals, often by a cosy campfire.Day 14: Departure for Jaw Jaw from Fredberg
For jungle enthusiasts, this day offers even more opportunities to spot wildlife. If you’d rather go for a swim and soak up the sun, there’s plenty of time for that too. After lunch, you’ll pack your things and set off for Atjoni, where the dugout canoe will be waiting to take you to Jaw Jaw.
PART 4
Day 15: Jaw Jaw
After breakfast, you’ll go for a walk through the rainforest, followed by a stroll through the village where you’ll meet the Saramaccans. This community has kept African traditions such as fishing, hunting, boat-building and traditional medicine alive in the Surinamese jungle. After lunch, you’ll visit the more remote village of Gunsi and go on a walking tour to the village of Nieuw Aurora/Laduani. From Laduani, you’ll sail to the Ferulasi rapids for some relaxation. In the late afternoon, you’ll sail back to Jaw Jaw. In the evening, you’ll enjoy a cultural show. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.Day 16: Jaw Jaw to Paramaribo
After a final moment to enjoy the surroundings, we’ll sail back to Atjoni, where the coach will be waiting to take you back to Paramaribo. You’ll spend the night at the Residence Inn Hotel again. Breakfast and lunch are included.Day 17: Free day in Paramaribo
Today you’re free to do as you please. Whether you want to relax on a terrace, go shopping in the city, or visit the Cottami Mission Museum or Fort Zeelandia, the choice is yours. Breakfast is included.Day 18: Another free day
Today you have another day to spend as you wish. Breakfast is included.Day 19: Transfer to Zanderij
Enjoy Paramaribo for a little while longer, pick up some souvenirs, and relax by the water’s edge or by the pool. After midday, the coach leaves for the airport for the overnight flight to the Netherlands. Breakfast is included.Day 21: Back home
