PART 1
Day 1: Paramaribo
Departure from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport for the flight to Paramaribo. On arrival, the guide will be waiting to take you to the Royal Breeze Hotel, where your first two nights' accommodation have been booked.Day 2: Commewijne Tour
At 9.00 am, we set off from Leonsberg/Marine Trap. We’ll visit Fort Nieuw Amsterdam, a historic 17th-century fort. We’ll then sail to the Rust en Werk plantation, explore the creek and visit the plantation, depending on the tide. Breakfast and lunch are included.Day 3: Paramaribo City Tour
A tour of the capital to discover the highlights, such as Fort Zeelandia, the wooden Basilica, the Jewish Synagogue next to the Mosque, Independence Square, the wreck of the German ship 'de Goslar’, and the market with its exotic fruit and vegetables. Overnight stay at the Paramaribo Breeze Hotel. Breakfast and lunch are included.Day 4: Fredberg
An adventurous day for nature lovers and adventurers. After a quick briefing and a drink, you’ll set off for the unspoilt jungle. The journey takes about 4 hours on a reasonably good road, with a few stops along the way. Once you arrive at base camp, you can go for a swim and have something to eat. You’ll then put on your jungle gear and set off on the trek to the summit of Fredberg, a 3- to 4-hour walk through the jungle. At the summit, you’ll enjoy the stunning views, a shower and kitchen facilities to ensure a good night’s sleep. Marvel at the sunset and the starry sky before settling down to sleep in this special spot. All meals are included.
PART 2
Day 5: Fredberg
Up early from the hammock to catch a breathtaking sunrise over the jungle. The jungle comes to life with the sounds of howler monkeys and colourful birds such as macaws. After a hearty breakfast, your guide will take you to the other side of the mountain in search of rare orange-breasted cockatoos and various species of monkey. Back at base camp, you can relax, enjoy a sumptuous lunch and take part in various activities such as fishing, boating or a night-time wildlife spot. The evening is often rounded off around the campfire.Day 6: Departure for Ping Pe from Fredberg
If you fancy more jungle adventure, you can head out again with your guide or enjoy a swim and some sunbathing. After lunch, you’ll set off for Atjoni, where a dugout canoe will take you to Jungle Resort Pingpe. Along the way, you’ll see villages and daily life along the river. Once you arrive at Jungle Resort Pingpe, you can go for a swim, relax on the island and take a walk through the village to experience local life. In the evening, you’ll learn more about Saramaccan culture and the programme for the following day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.Day 7: Jungle walk and evening dugout canoe trip
After breakfast, you’ll go on a jungle walk with your guide, learning about plants, animals and local customs. You’ll discover the villagers' fields and their way of life. After lunch, you’ll have time to relax and swim. In the evening, you’ll go on a korjaal trip, following the river, enjoying the silence or listening to the wonderful sounds of the jungle under the starry sky, weather permitting. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.
PART 3
Day 8: Tapawatra Sula & Saramaccan culture
After breakfast, you’ll sail to the village of Asindohopo, home to the Granman people on the Pikin Rio. Here, you’ll take a stroll through the village before heading to the stunning Tapawatra Sula, a set of rapids where you can swim and enjoy a natural water massage. You can relax during a picnic lunch on one of the rocks in the rapids. On the way back to the resort, you’ll visit the Djumu health centre with your guide, a central medical post for the local area. In the evening, the locals will invite you to a cultural evening full of song and dance. An early breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.Day 9: Visit to primary school & climb Pineapple Mountain
Early departure by dugout canoe to the village of Semoisi to visit the local primary school. Then return to Jungle Resort Pingpe for breakfast. Next, travel by dugout canoe to Djumu for a walk up Pineapple Mountain, offering stunning views of the surrounding area. Back at the resort, you’ll have lunch and the afternoon is yours to spend as you wish. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.Day 10: Jungle Resort Pingpe – Paramaribo
After breakfast, travel by dugout canoe to Atjoni, a journey of about 2.5 hours. Enjoy lunch on the boat or upon arrival in Atjoni, before travelling by bus to Paramaribo. Breakfast and lunch are included.Day 11: Free day in Paramaribo
Enjoy a quiet day to recover from your jungle adventures. Breakfast is included.Day 12: Visit to Peperpot Nature Park
Visit Peperpot Nature Park, one of Suriname’s oldest protected nature reserves. Here you can enjoy the natural biodiversity, go birdwatching, and see various animal species, such as felines, monkeys and unusual insects. Breakfast and lunch are included.
PART 4
Day 13: To Nieuw-Nickerie
After breakfast, you’ll set off from Paramaribo for Nieuw-Nickerie, in the north-west of Suriname. On the way, you’ll visit historic sites in the districts of Saramacca and Coronie. You’ll stop in Groningen, where the first Dutch farmers from the province of Groningen settled in 1845. You’ll then arrive at 12 noon in Boskamp, a fishing village. Here, you’ll take a short walk and may visit a traditional fish smokehouse. After a light lunch, you’ll travel through Coronie, known for its coconuts, and visit the village of Wageningen. You’ll be staying at the Regency Hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.Day 14: Nickerie – Bigi Pan
After breakfast, you’ll visit the market in Nickerie and, if you wish, a rice-processing plant to learn about rice processing. You’ll then head to the Akira jetty to explore the Bigi Pan wetland area. Lunch and check-in follow. The afternoon is free for kayaking, canoeing, fishing or relaxing. Around 4.30 pm, there is a birdwatching trip to see the returning birds. In the evening, you can spot caimans. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.Day 15: Bigi Pan
Early morning coffee or tea on the balcony at 5.30 am to watch the birds leave their roosts. Breakfast after returning from the birdwatching tour. Afterwards, free time for activities or relaxation. Another birdwatching trip at around 4.30 pm to see the returning birds. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.Day 16: Return to Paramaribo
After lunch, you’ll leave Bigi Pan and head back to Paramaribo. You’ll arrive in Paramaribo around 6.00 pm. Breakfast and lunch are included.Day 17: Free day in Paramaribo
You are free to spend this day as you wish. Breakfast is included.Day 18: Transfer to Zanderij
Enjoy the rest of your time in Paramaribo, buy some souvenirs or relax by the pool. In the afternoon, the coach will take you to the airport for your flight back to the Netherlands. Breakfast is included.Day 19: Back Home
