Overview

Peperpot Nature Park, one of Suriname's first protected nature reserves on the Suriname River, near Paramaribo, was once a huge coffee and cocoa plantation called Peperpot. Since 2009, a foundation has managed the park to preserve biodiversity. Part is for education, recreation and ecotourism, together with a hotel in a restored plantation house. The park is home to 270+ bird species, cats, monkeys, special insects, giant anteaters, reptiles, amphibians and butterflies. It also offers nighttime experiences in this beautiful forest.

Let us take you on an unforgettable walk through this enchanting area, surrounded by lush forests and an abundance of wildlife. During this excursion you will have the chance to spot more than 270 bird species, along with felines, monkeys, reptiles, amphibians and special insects. Enjoy a breathtaking sunset from the bird tower and discover the evening life of this beautiful wooded area.

Program

Day 1

We start with a warm welcome in the lobby of Torarica in Paramaribo at 16.00 and take you to the park, where you will go on an enchanting walk under the guidance of an experienced guide. As you walk among the lush green forests, you will discover a diversity of flora and fauna. Admire the exuberant bird species that flourish here and spot felines, monkeys and other exotic animals hiding in this lush habitat. Our aim is to offer you an in-depth experience where you not only discover the splendour of nature, but also gain insight into the delicate balance of this ecosystem. After a relaxing walk full of breathtaking photo opportunities and enriching encounters with nature, we will bring you safely back to Paramaribo around 7.30pm, where you can reminisce about this unforgettable experience.
