We drive from Paramaribo to the Dam. On the way to the dam, the guide tells us about the area we are driving through: the population as well as the economic activities (gold, wood, crushed stone and tourism). At Afobakka we leave the canoes in the water and sail past the dam to take some pictures of this mega waterworks. We continue paddling around some small islands and explore the area. This is really enjoyable: the view and the peace and quiet. By paddling between the dead trees you can also get a closer look at some resting birds. We sail around at our leisure and make a stop on one of the many islands. We have fishing equipment, packed lunch and hammocks with us. You can choose to go fishing for Piranha, swim in the lake or relax in the hammock. We enjoy lunch together. When we leave the island we go back to the end point to drive back to Paramaribo by car.
