PART 1

Day 1 - Arrival - Paramaribo
From Schiphol you leave for Suriname. In the afternoon we land at JA Pengel airport, where our employees are waiting for you. Then we drive about 80 minutes to our hotel, Queens Kleine Waterstraat in Paramaribo.

Day 2 - History of Water and Land and City Tour
We explore the Suriname and Commewijne rivers with a primitive tent boat. We visit Rust en Werk plantation, Margaretha plantation and the open-air museum. We may be able to spot dolphins at the confluence of the Suriname and Commewijne rivers. After lunch we take a city tour along the highlights of Paramaribo, such as Fort Zeelandia, the wooden Basilica, the Jewish Synagogue next to the Mosque, the independence square, the wreck of the German ship 'the Goslar' and the market with exotic fruits and vegetables. Overnight stay in Paramaribo, including breakfast and lunch.

Day 3 - Paramaribo - Jungle Resort Pingpe
We will pick you up from your hotel between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM. We drive about 2.5 hours by bus to the canoe harbor Atjoni, where we enjoy the colorful Surinamese culture and pass small villages of Indians and Creoles. At Atjoni we take a lunch break before loading the canoe for a 3.5-hour trip on the beautiful Upper Suriname river to Pingpe. During the canoe trip we see villages along the river and the daily life of the local residents, such as washing, fishing and children playing in the water.
At Jungle Resort Pingpe, after moving into your simple lodge, you can swim in the river or relax on the island. Later we will take a village walk in Pingpe to meet the locals and learn more about their life, culture and the next day's program. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 4 - Walking through the pristine jungle and evening trip by canoe
After breakfast you will take a jungle walk with the guide through the forests and fields of the villagers. The guide tells you about plants, trees, animals and jungle customs. After the walk, enjoy lunch at the resort and swim in the river. In the evening you will take a canoe trip to experience the silence of the jungle or the sounds and starry sky. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 5 - Enjoy the Tapawatra Sula and encounter the Saramaccan culture
After breakfast we sail to the village of Asindohopo on the Pikin Rio, the village of the Granman. We take a village walk and go to the beautiful Tapawatra Sula for swimming and a natural massage. On the way back we visit the Djumu health center and enjoy local culture with song and dance in the evening. Early breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 6 - Visit to the primary school and climb the Ananasberg
Early in the morning we sail to the village of Semoisi to visit the primary school. Then to Jungle Resort Pingpe for breakfast, then by canoe to Djumu for a walk to the Ananasberg with a beautiful view. After the hike back to the resort for lunch and free time. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

PART 2

Day 7 - Jungle Resort Pingpe - Paramaribo
After breakfast you will leave by canoe for Atjoni, a downstream journey of approximately 2.5 hours. During the boat trip or in Atjoni itself you can enjoy a tasty lunch again before transferring to the bus. After a bus ride of about 2 hours you will reach Paramaribo.

Day 8 - Pepperpot
After breakfast we leave for Plantage de Peperpot for a tour of the nature reserve, which was once a plantation and now houses many birds and plants. We will spend the night again in the hotel in Paramaribo. Today breakfast and lunch are included.

Day 9 - Free day in Paramaribo
Breakfast included today.

Day 10 - Departure to the west of Suriname
After breakfast you leave Paramaribo for Nieuw-Nickerie, in the northwest of Suriname. The distance Paramaribo-Nickerie is approximately 240 km, with visits to historical sites in the Saramacca and Coronie districts along the way. We make a short stop in the town of Groningen, where the first Dutch farmers from the province of Groningen settled in 1845. We then arrive at the fishing village of Boskamp around 12:00, where we take a short walk and possibly visit a traditional fish smokehouse. After a light lunch we continue the journey past Coronie, known for its many coconuts and parwa honey. We will spend the night in a good hotel in Nickerie and in the evening visit the sea wall with a beautiful temple and, if the weather is nice, a beautiful sunset. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

Day 11 - Nickerie - Bigi Pan
After breakfast we visit the Nickerie market, a pleasant market. Then you explore Nickerie and around noon we arrive at the Akira jetty. We go to the Pan at Akira, have lunch there and check in to your room. Around 4:30 PM there is a birding trip to watch the birds fly back to their roost, an enchanting spectacle with thousands of birds coloring the sky. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

PART 3

Day 12 - Bigi Pan to Apoera
After a wonderful overnight stay we sail into the Pan before breakfast to watch the birds leave again. After lunch you leave the Bigi Pan nature reserve. We sail back to the Akira jetty, where a fast boat awaits us to sail to Apoera via the Corentijn River. Here we spend the night in a guest house with shared showers and toilets. We also visit the Indian villages of the Trios and the Arawaks. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

Day 13 - Blanche Marie
Today we go to Blanche Marie, we may also make a stop at the railway line from 'somewhere to nowhere'. After this stop we go to the second route that takes us through the jungle to Blanche Marie, where we spend the night in guest buildings with shared showers and toilets. We take a walk along the river and listen to interesting facts about biodiversity. At waterfalls we can relax and enjoy massages in natural jacuzzis. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

Day 14 - Blanche Marie
Today we enjoy the surroundings of Blanche Marie, we take beautiful walks and if possible we enjoy the rapids. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

Day 15 - Blanche Marie to Fungu Island
After breakfast we continue to Witigron, where canoes take us to the fungu island. Upon arrival we meet the manager and locate the accommodation. We spend the night in the Gonini lodge, a simple lodge based on two people per room with a simple shower and toilet. In the afternoon we can swim in the river or relax after this adventurous tour. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

Day 16 - Voltzberg
After breakfast we prepare for the trip to the Voltzberg. This tour is fascinating and impressive, where we can see many animals such as monkeys, birds and wild boars. The highlight is the climb to the top (240 m) for a beautiful view of the tropical rainforest. We stop at the Ajoemara Falls to cool off before returning to our lodge. It is a three-hour trip there, the climb and three hours back. For those who find this too strenuous, there is an alternative of a quiet walk on Fungu Island and/or swimming in the river. After dinner we can have a nice time together. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included today.

PART 4

Day 17 - Mother traps
After breakfast we leave by boat to the breathtaking Mother Falls. After lunch you have a free afternoon to decide whether you want to swim, fish, sunbathe, lie in the hammock or just relax. Around 6 p.m. we will walk together to the airport, where you can spot different bird species and experience the sunset at the same time. After dinner we can have a nice time together and, if desired, attend a cultural show with singing and dancing by the local Raleigh boys. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included today.

Day 18 - Raleigh Falls to Paramaribo
After breakfast we take a long but beautiful boat trip along rapids and sandbanks to Witagron, where we will have lunch. We then continue our journey to our stay in Paramaribo. Breakfast and lunch are included today.

Day 19 - Free day in Paramaribo
A day to relax after the adventurous days. You can sleep in or visit the city, whatever you want. Breakfast is included today.

Day 20 - Departure to Schiphol, Netherlands
Just a few more hours to enjoy what Paramaribo has to offer, perhaps buy some souvenirs or enjoy the waterfront before it's time to leave. After noon the bus will take you to the airport, where we check in for the overnight flight to the Netherlands. Breakfast is included.

Day 21 - Arrival in the Netherlands
Home Sweet Home.
