Day 1
Today we start our nature and culture experience and leave from Paramaribo in a southerly direction. On the way we pass the impressive forest giants and villages located on this road. After approximately 190 km we arrive at the mooring place Atjoni, to then start an exciting canoe trip. We sail for approximately 50 minutes by motorized canoe to the comfortable Anaula Nature Resort, located at the foot of the Ferullasi Falls, where you will also spend the night. During this boat trip we come across breathtaking nature and various Maroon villages. We also pass the turbulent JawJaw rapids. After a light lunch in buffet form in our beautiful dining room, check-in will take place. After this you will have the opportunity to explore the resort. In the morning we sail by canoe to a nearby swimming area, in the Ferullasi rapids. Here we can relax, swim and enjoy a natural bubble bath. Before dinner we go on an exciting adventure, looking for caimans. During this night cruise you can also enjoy the beautiful starry sky and the total silence of the Amazon rainforest.
Day 2
After breakfast we sail by canoe to the village of Nieuw Aurora for a village walk. During the tour of the village you will get to know the local population and their unique way of life and their traditional habits and customs. We visit the mission post with a church, primary school and a medical post. Around 16:30 we take a forest walk on the island of the resort. During this walk you will get an explanation about the local medicinal use of plants. During the civil war in 1986, Ronnie Brunswijk's jungle commandos visited the island for their 'immortality rituals'. The remains of these rituals on the island remind us of this unique piece of history. In the evening you can enjoy a delicious dinner, before a free evening where you can visit our lobby, for example.
Day 3
Here you have the opportunity to attend a church service in the village on Sunday morning. You will witness a typical Saramaccan service. You can spend the afternoon as you wish, the hammock camps are there for your convenience. A walk on the island is recommended, you can then listen to the sounds of our islanders in peace or relax above the water on a plateau. Reading a book at our beautiful swimming pool is also not an unattractive idea. After dinner we can enjoy a cultural dance performance (with a minimum of 8 guests). Traditional dances such as the Seketie, Awasa and Bandamba will be performed for us. Our guide will explain the content and meaning of these dances.
Day 4
The morning is entirely yours to spend as you wish. After lunch we sail back to Atjoni, from where we depart by bus to Paramaribo.
