Day 1
You will be picked up from your accommodation in the morning. The tour starts with a drive to Zanderij, where there are optional stops for photos and refreshments along the way. While we drive, there is a chance to spot various animals such as monkeys, sloths, deer, turtles, monitor lizards and birds such as parrots, macaws, trumpeter birds and powisies (birds that were previously used for gold smuggling). After Zanderij we pass several Indian villages on the way to Witagron, a Maroon village where we stop for a visit and lunch. The second section then follows through creeks and bridges straight through the jungle to the Blanche Mariefalls. Upon arrival, explore the area, where you can swim before an evening meal is served.
Day 2
Breakfast is between 8 and 9 am; then we follow a forest path to the waterfalls. Along the way you will receive an explanation about the flora and fauna and you can experience the fast-flowing river. At the waterfalls you can sit underneath in some places, enjoy the falling spring water and wonder, like many other tourists, where all that water comes from. There are also natural jacuzzis for a relaxing massage. Around 1pm we return to the lodge for lunch. The afternoon is spent at the Massage Waterfalls, where you can also fish.
Day 3
After breakfast we leave for Apoera. After checking into our lodge we take a sightseeing tour of the city of Apoera. In the afternoon we visit the railway line from "somewhere to nowhere" and then continue to the indigenous villages: Kleine Kwamalasemoetoe and Washabo. Here we take a village walk and you will become acquainted with the culture of the Trios and Arowaks, two different indigenous tribes. There is also an opportunity to buy souvenirs. 'In the evening, after dinner, there is a nice get-together.
Day 4
After a delicious breakfast we head back to Paramaribo. We say goodbye to the beautiful surroundings of the Blanche Marie waterfalls and start our return journey. Along the way you will once again enjoy the lush greenery of the rainforest and the enchanting natural beauty that this region has to offer.
