Blanche Marie / Apoera - 4 Days

This 4 day tour takes you with 4-wheel drive terrain cars, through an unspoiled piece of rainforest to one of Surinam's most beautiful and largest waterfalls. There is also a visit to the indigenous village of Apoera on the program, as well as a visit to the railway line. The impressive Blanche Marie waterfalls are located more than 300 km south-west of Paramaribo. It is one of the largest waterfalls in Suriname with a huge displacement of water. The imposing waterfall stretches over more than 120 meters and is located in high forest, the most beautiful type of tropical rainforest. All the ingredients of the Amazon rainforest can be found there, including the 8 Surinamese monkey species and more than 200 bird species. Several beautiful hiking trails lead to the Eldorado and the van Edenval.

Day 1

You will be picked up at your place of residence in the morning. The tour then starts with a ride towards Zanderij; Along the way, if desired, a stop is made for taking photos and consuming sandwiches and drinks. During the trip there is a chance that you will see different animals such as: monkeys, sloths, deer, turtles, lizards and different bird species: parrots, macaws, trumpet birds, powisies (the bird with which people used to smuggle gold), etc. After Zanderij, we pass a number of Indian villages and continue our way to Witagron, a maroon village, where we make a stop for a visit linked to a lunch break. After this stop we start the second route, which takes us over different creeks and bridges through the jungle to the Blanche Marievallen. After arrival, the area is explored; you can also swim and the evening meal will follow.

Day 2

Breakfast is from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.; then we go via a forest path to the falls. Along the way an explanation is given about the flora and fauna and you can see the rapid rapids of the river. At the falls you can sit in some places underneath and enjoy the falling spring water and amaze you, just like so many tourists in front of you, where does all that water come from. There are also various natural jacuzzis for a delicious massage. At 1 o'clock in the afternoon we go back to the lodge for lunch. We spend the afternoon at El Dorado falls, where there is also opportunity for fishing.

Day 3

After breakfast we leave for Apoera. After installation in our lodge we make a sightseeing tour in Apoera city. In the afternoon the railway line from "somewhere to nowhere" is visited, then we continue our way to the Indian villages: small Kwamalasemoetoe and Washabo, where we take a village walk, where you can get acquainted with the culture of the Trios and Arowaks, two different Indian tribes; souvenirs can also be bought there. In the evening, after the evening meal, a cozy get-together.

Day 4

After breakfast we leave for the return trip to Paramaribo.
